The PN50C8000 represents the top of the line for Samsung's 2010 plasma lineup and includes all the upgrade features such as 3D compatibility, the best picture processors, thin 1.4" depth, great Internet options, and stellar picture quality
The Samsung PN50C8000 has very complete calibration options including white balance adjustment for Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow in addition to the primary colors. The TV calibrated extremely well with a low error rate after adjusting white balance. With our HQV processor testing
The Samsung PN50C8000 displays wonderfully balanced color information and uniformity. Images are presented in a clean and clear manner devoid of artifacts, with colors properly saturated. Colors may seem a slightly washed out and weak at first but further viewing reveals them to be extremely accurate and realistic while plenty saturated. We recommend leaving the Motion Judder Controller feature off due to unintended consequences in taking out natural background blur. However,
The C8000 and accompanying 3D glasses did a good job of pulling me further into the on screen images. It makes you feel more involved.
Audio output was impressive from the 10W X 10W speakers. There was plenty of volume to fill a large room at the 50% level. Use the Clear Voice feature as much as possible for added voice definition. We are a big fan of voice/dialog enhancement features. Music was not great but we felt the sound quality was well balanced.

Samsung is remaining consistent with it's plasma offerings and bringing back the 550 offering which was a big seller last year. We liked it last year and were looking forward to reviewing it again. Some of the features and qualitative measurements were different this year, but we still enjoyed the TV a lot. These lower end Samsung plasma offerings always represent such good value. The HD picture quality was slightly soft but excellent while were weren't all that impressed with standard def programming. There are a few newly added feature sets that we tested as well. The attractive Touch of Color design adds a subtle clear-to-charcoal gray accent to the set's bezel. Enjoy brilliant, film-like images in Full HD resolution. Samsung's breakthrough mega dynamic contrast ratio offers a more accurate color tonal range, deeper blacks and shadow details. The new E3-Panel technology featuring our innovative Clear Image Panel technology reduces off-angle blur and glare in brighter rooms and delivers a better picture while using less energy.

Black Level/Contrast: Black levels appeared very saturated with an HD signal input and moderate with a standard definition signal input. They didnt seem as inky as we remember them from last years model, though they were plenty sufficient.Viewing Angle/Off Axis Viewing: Viewing angles were perfect with no degradation of contrast at even 35 degrees. The plasma panel adds a lot of depth to HD images. However, there is glare from the Ultra Clear Panel technology.

The S2 series TV does not contain the THX picture setting option. Follow the following settings to calibrate to a nearly perfect D65. These picture settings are best viewed in a controlled light environment fairly dark room.Relatively inexpensive; decent black-level performance; solid grayscale accuracy; fingerprint-resistant finish; energy-efficient for a plasma.but Inaccurate primary colors and gamma; subpar bright-room quality; last year's Panasonic plasmas lost black-level performance over relatively short periods of time; sparse picture controls; uses significantly more power than LCDs.
Color rendition is still with black levels being the primary progress area of the S2 series delivering more depth and solidity. As was the case on the S1 series, brightness is a strength of the these newer Panasonic plasma models.Partly due to the high brightness of this plasma dark shadow detail is excellent. Panasonic plasma TVs have long been a favorite of ours in this important area. This TV is Energy Star compliant due to an energy saver feature option. Power consumption for the S2 has been reduced from the S1. This is one of the main feature differences aside from improved black levels. Panasonic started improving efficiency in their plasma TVs in 2007 and have improved it 400% with this S2 model. They are now close enough to LCDs in energy efficiency that is should not matter.

LG 50PJ350 Review
The 50PJ350 is the lowest price and feature set offering from LG's plasma lineup for 2010. This plasma offering has a unique place in today's TV world with a resolution of 1366 X 768 or 720p or 1080i. We dont have anything against 720p since much broadcast HD TV programming likely comes through in this resolution – as long as the 720p picture quality is excellent. This plasma will compete on it's looks, plasma picture technology, some nice features from LG, and certainly price.

black gloss TV with a 2" depth and 1 inch bezel frame on the sides. The top bezel frame is 1 and half inches. The included swivel table top stand is also black gloss and swivels to about 20 degrees left to right. My one complaint with the appearance of the TV is the gray screen when the TV is off. I prefer a black screen.
The Intelligent Sensor feature will automatically adjust the brightness to match the brightness and color temperature of the room lighting. While these automatic adjustments sensors provide marginal energy savings we have found in the past that they sacrifice a calibrated picture to do it. Most viewers will be more concerned with picture quality than a slight power savings but if you want to trim a few dollars off the monthly power bill this feature can do that for you in a room that allows the TV to run at lower brightness levels.
