Smokey the Bear Sutra: Smokey Bear image, picture
Smokey Bear has come to with a great fun....
Once in the Jurassic about 150 million years ago, the Great Sun Buddha in this corner of the Infinite Void gave a Discourse to all the assembled elements and energies: to the standing beings, the walking beings, the flying beings, and the sitting beings - even grasses, to the number of thirteen billions, each one born from a seed, assembled there: a Discourse concerning Enlightenment on the planet Earth.

Although for over half a century (60 years in 2004) Smokey Bear has cautioned America to be careful with fire while enjoying the forest, the idea of preventing carelessly caused wildfire came long before his time. This idea quickly grew into a necessity. With the advent of World War II, Americans feared that an enemy attack or sabotage could destroy our forest resources at a time when wood products were greatly needed. As a result of this concern, the USDA Forest Service organized the Cooperative Forest Fire Prevention (CFFP) Program in 1942. It encouraged citizens nationwide to make a personal effort to prevent forest fires.
A handsome smokey-colored brown bear standing on his hind legs, showing that he is aroused and watchful.
Bearing in his right paw the Shovel that digs to the truth beneath appearances; cuts the roots of useless attachments, and flings damp sand on the fires of greed and war;
His left paw in the Mudra of Comradely Display - indicating that all creatures have the full right to live to their limits and that deer, rabbits, chipmunks, snakes, dandelions, and lizards all grow in the realm of the Dharma;
Wearing the blue work overalls symbolic of slaves and laborers, the countless men oppressed by a civilization that claims to save but often destroys;
Wearing the broad-brimmed hat of the West, symbolic of the forces that guard the Wilderness, which is the Natural State of the Dharma and the True Path of man on earth: all true paths lead through mountains;
With a halo of smoke and flame behind, the forest fires of the kali-yuga, fires caused by the stupidity of those who think things can be gained and lost whereas in truth all is contained vast and free in the Blue Sky and Green Earth of One Mind;
Round-bellied to show his kind nature and that the great earth has food enough for everyone who loves her and trusts her;
Trampling underfoot wasteful freeways and needless suburbs; smashing the worms of capitalism and totalitarianism;
Indicating the Task: his followers, becoming free of cars, houses, canned foods, universities, and shoes; master the Three Mysteries of their own Body, Speech, and Mind; and fearlessly chop down the rotten trees and prune out the sick limbs of this country America and then burn the leftover trash.

Smokey's task is becoming increasingly difficult. In years past, it was a challenge for his message to reach traditional visitors to the forest. Now we are faced with getting his wildfire prevention message to an increasing number of people who live in and around these areas. This "wildland-urban interface" poses a double threat; from people living in or near forests who may accidentally start fires that spread to the wildlands as well as from accidental fires started in the wild that spread to nearby residences. In either case, the result is potentially disastrous but especially tragic because it is preventable. The challenge continues as Smokey Bear turns 60. Demand for our natural resources continues to grow, as does the population of forested areas. In the future, the need to prevent accidental wildfire will be greater than ever.

By 1899, Bayer's trademark Aspirin was registered worldwide for Bayer's brand of acetylsalicylic acid, but because of the confiscation of Bayer's US assets and trademarks during World War I by the United States - and the subsequent widespread usage of the word to describe all brands of the compound, "Aspirin" lost its trademark status in the United States, France, and the United Kingdom. Time’s 2010 Person of the Year is the founder of facebook- Mark Zuckerberg

This is the Mark Zuckerberg who is the second-youngest individual ever to be named Time magazine’s Person of the Year: Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder of the omnipresent social-networking site Facebook.
“It’s something that is transforming the way we live our lives every day,” Time Managing Editor Richard Stengel said as he announced the magazine’s 2010 selection live on TODAY Wednesday. “It’s social engineering, changing the way we relate to each other.”
If you regularly use a computer, you may feel as though you already know the 26-year-old Zuckerberg. And maybe you’ve seen the acclaimed movie “The Social Network,” which portrays Zuckerberg as socially stunted, calculating and arrogant. But Stengel told TODAY’s Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira that there’s more to the multibillionaire CEO.
They shook hands and chatted about nothing for a couple of minutes, and then Mueller left. There was a giddy silence while everybody just looked at one another as if to say, What the hell just happened? Stengel said Zuckerberg stands out for accomplishing something that’s never been done before. “This year they passed 500 million users — one in 10 people on the planet.“He’s our second-youngest Person of the Year,” Stengel added; only Charles Lindbergh, named the magazine’s very first Man of the Year back in 1927 when he was only 25, was younger. “He’s deeply affected by it.”

“It’s about the idea that most applications are going to become social, and most industries are going to be rethought in a way where social design and doing things with your friends is at the core of how these things work,” he added.Zuckerberg has big plans to expand the social model, not just on the Web, but everywhere: In your car, on your TV, on your mobile device.

Assange mom: 'Save my brave son'
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange appeared Tuesday in a London court, seeking bail to get out of a British jail as he fights a Swedish request to extradite him in a sex-crimes investigation.
The 39-year-old Australian was brought into court in a prison van before the hearing as supporters and journalists gathered in the street and in the courtroom.
the founder of WikiLeaks, has reaffirmed his committment to publishing secret US cables, while denouncing companies that suspended payments to his website, Australian television reported.
Australia's Network Seven said on Tuesday that Assange made the comments from his prison cell in London during a 10-minute phone conversation with his mother, Christine Assange.
The news came ahead of a London court hearing at which Assange's lawyers will attempt to win his release on bail.
"My convictions are unfaltering. I remain true to the ideals I have expressed," Assange said, according to his mother who supplied Network Seven with a written statement from her son.
"This circumstance shall not shake them. If anything, this process has increased my determination that they are true and correct," he wrote.
Provoking fury
WikiLeaks has provoked fury in Washington with its publications of secret US cables and has vowed to make public the 250,000 embassy documents it has obtained.
On Tuesday, Assange was also critical of the major finance companies who suspended payments to his WikiLeaks site.
"We now know that Visa, Mastercard, Paypal and others are instruments of US foreign policy. It's not something we knew before," he said, and called for the protection of his work and his team from "illegal and immoral attacks".
Internet activists launched "Operation Payback" to avenge WikiLeaks against those perceived to have obstructed its operations.
They temporarily brought down the websites of credit card firms Visa and MasterCard, as well as that of the Swedish government, last week.
Assange handed himself in to British police last week after Sweden issued a European warrant for his arrest for sex crime charges. "He's been held in the basement of the prison, right in the middle of the prison in solitary confinement," his mother said.
Christine Assange told her son that there was worldwide support for his cause. "As a mother I am asking the world to stand up for my brave son," she said.
Assange was accused this year of sexual misconduct by two female Swedish WikiLeaks volunteers during a stay in Sweden. He denies the allegations.
The WikiLeaks founder and his lawyers have voiced fears that US prosecutors may be preparing to indict him for espionage after the WikiLeaks website published secret US documents.
The City of Westminster Magistrates' court was packed with lawyers, journalists and celebrities, including filmmaker Ken Loach and socialite Jemima Khan who have both offered to contribute 20,000 pounds ($31,500) each in bond for Assange.
Assange is wanted for questioning after two women accused him of sexual misconduct in separate encounters in Sweden over the summer. Lawyers for Assange say he denies the allegations and will contest Sweden's attempt to extradite him for questioning.
Assange was placed into custody at a hearing a week ago after surrendering to Scotland Yard to answer a Swedish arrest warrant.
Assange's lawyer, Mark Stephens, said his client would offer to be electronically tagged and stay at an address known to the police.
"One's never going to count one's chickens until they're hatched, but I hope that in these circumstances the district judge will feel confident" granting bail, Stephens told Sky News.

He has not been formally charged with any crime and denies any wrongdoing. Assange's arrest comes as WikiLeaks faces mounting pressure on several fronts. Yesterday, Swiss bank PostFinance issued a statement announcing that it had frozen $41,000 in an account set up as a legal defense fund for Assange. The bank said it took action because Assange had claimed Geneva as his domicile when opening the account, but this had proved incorrect and he could not show that he is a Swiss resident.
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has "for his own safety" been moved to a segregation unit of the London prison where he is being held pending extradition to Sweden, one of his lawyers said Friday.
"The prison authorities are doing it for his own safety, presumably," lawyer Jennifer Robinson told AFP.
She said the 39-year-old Australian was moved to the segregation unit of Wandsworth prison in southwest London on Thursday, two days after he was taken to the jail.
The lawyer complained that Assange "does not get any recreation, he has difficulties getting phone calls out, he is on his own."

"Obviously we are trying to prepare a legal appeal and he has difficulties hand writing, so it would be much easier in order to assist us in the preparation if he had a laptop," Robinson said.
She declined to elaborate on why he had difficulties writing.
Robinson said Assange was in "very good" spirits but he was "frustrated" that he could not answer the allegations that WikiLeaks was behind cyber attacks launched on credit card firms which have refused to do business with the website.
"He told me he is absolutely not involved and this is a deliberate attempt to conflate WikiLeaks, which is a publishing organisation, with hacking organisations which are not."
Assange was refused bail by a judge in London on Tuesday after being arrested on a warrant issued by Sweden, where prosecutors want to speak to him about allegations of rape and sexual molestation made by two women.

He is due to appear in a London court again next Tuesday, when his case will be argued by Geoffrey Robertson, a high-profile British-Australian human rights lawyer.
Now Dagens Nyheter says about WikiLeaks deserters plan to start new site,- The new site, which will also feed sensitive leaks to international news organisations, is expected to go live on Monday but will have to compete with hundreds of WikiLeaks mirrors which have been set up in the aftermath of the Cablegate leaks.Anonymous Wikileaks supporters mull change in tactics - Attacks against Amazon were called off late on 9 December and re-directed towards net payments firm Paypal.
Analysis suggests the earlier attacks were made more effective by the involvement of hi-tech criminals.
At the same time one wing of the activist group suggested ditching the attacks and doing more to publicise what is in the leaked cables.
Suicide Attacks in Northwest Pakistan Dozens Dead & Injures About 100 ..
A double suicide bombing killed at least 28 people in Pakistan's tribal belt on Monday, attacking pro-government community leaders and members of an anti-Taliban militia, officials said.
Authorities in Pakistan say a suicide attack in a northwestern tribal region bordering Afghanistan has killed at least 50 people. The deadly attack took place in the Mohmand tribal district where Pakistani security forces are engaged in anti-insurgency operations.Witnesses and officials say two suicide bombers riding motorbikes and disguised as policemen detonated their devices in the main government compound in Ghalanai, the administrative center of the border region.The bombs were detonated within seconds of one another, one at the security gate and another from inside the building. The suicide bombers were in disguise and wore police uniforms.
The apparent target was said to be a traditional meeting of local officials and tribal elders discussing the formation of anti-Taliban militia."We are not scared of such attacks and will keep on taking these enemies of humanity to task until they disappear from society," said Mian Iftikhar Hussain, information minister of the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The top government administrator in the area, Amjad Ali Khan, spoke to reporters on the scene shortly after the attack. Khan said the attacks were so deadly because the bombers had filled their suicide jackets with bullets. Nearly 100 people have been wounded, he said, and some of them are in critical condition.There were two suicide attackers, both came on motorbikes," he added, dismissing suggestions that security had been lax.
The official says that security guards caught one of the bombers at the main gate, but he was able to detonate his explosives. He said tight security arrangements were put in place for the meeting. "It was comparatively a soft target because obviously when too much public is visiting a place, you cannot ensure fool-proof security, so that is why it was targeted," said Khan.
shark attacked & Tourists warned
A shark attacked four divers in the Red Sea over two days and Egyptian officials have imposed a swimming ban in part of the area, one of Egypt's most popular tourist destinations, state news agency MENA reported.
The German woman died Sunday after being attacked by a shark in waters off Sharm el-Sheikh, prompting Egypt's tourism ministry to close the beach until the animal responsible is found.
Thousands of tourists flock to Sharm el-Sheikh each year, attracted by its warm climate and clear waters, but the UK Foreign Office on Monday amended its travel advice for people visiting the area.A statement on its website read: "Attacks by oceanic white tip sharks are extremely rare and shark attacks of any kind are very unusual in the Red Sea.Shark attacks in the Red Sea are reported once every year or two, said Mohamed Salem, director of South Sinai Conservation. The region is famed for its abundant coral, clear waters and exotic fish.
"If you are considering diving or snorkelling in any of the Red Sea resorts be aware that safety standards of diving operators can vary considerably."A basic rule is never to dive or snorkel unaccompanied. Where possible make any bookings through your tour representative.
"Unusually cheap operators may not provide adequate safety and insurance standards."
After the attacks authorities ordered people to stay out of the water around Sharm el-Sheikh. On Thursday, the Environment Ministry said two sharks suspected of the maulings were caught.
Jochen Van Lysebettens, general operations manager of the Red Sea Diving College in Sharm el-Sheikh, said employees at the Hyatt Regency resort told him the attack happened about noon (5 a.m. ET) in a protected swim area off the resort. Van Lysebettens has three dive-instruction operations in the area, including one at the Hyatt Regency.
The 70-year-old woman, a regular guest at the resort, was snorkeling near a reef when she was attacked, he said. She called for help, and a lifeguard brought her to shore, but she had lost too much blood and resuscitation efforts failed, Van Lysebettens said. The woman's arm and leg were severed, he said.
A British tourist described witnessing one of the shark attacks. Ellen Barnes, 31, of Horsham, West Sussex, told The Sun newspaper: "The water was churning like I was in a washing machine. I was being thrown around in the blood."
After the Sunday incident, the Chamber of Diving and Watersports called on its members in the region "to stop any snorkeling activities happening from any boats or shore." The chamber is under the umbrella of the Egyptian Tourist Federation.
Van Lysebettens said all tourists were ordered to stay out of the water at least through Monday. The dive community is organizing volunteer expeditions to find the shark, he said, and about 40 people will search Monday.
On Friday, two sharks were caught and killed near the South Sinai National Park on the Sharm el-Sheikh coast, according to the Chamber of Diving and Watersports.
The chamber said that as of Friday, the condition of three injured snorkelers -- two Russian women and a man from the Ukraine -- were unchanged. One of them was critical, the chamber said in a statement, but did not say which one. The three were attacked in a 24-hour period November 30 and December 1, the chamber said.Van Lysebettens said he is not a marine biologist, but many have speculated an oceanic white-tipped shark was responsible for the German woman's death, as well as the other attacks. Divers are upset because the two sharks killed Friday are thought to be innocent. They were a mako shark and another oceanic white-tipped shark -- which did not match pictures taken by someone accompanying one of the injured snorkelers, he said.
"This incident has clearly shocked our community, and the CDWS is continuing its investigation into why this may have happened," Hesham Gabr, head of the Chamber of Diving and Watersports, said in the statement. "It is clear from our initial discussions with shark behavioral experts that this highly unusual spate of attacks by an oceanic white tip shark was triggered by an activity, most probably illegal fishing or feeding in the area."
Several divers in the area saw carcasses of dead sheep in the water last week, Van Lysebettens said. It's not known how they got there, he said, but they could have washed out to sea or fallen off a boat. The shark may have been attracted by the carcass, he said, and could now be attacking slow-moving things on the water's surface.The last person to die from a shark attack in Egypt was killed while snorkeling near Sharm El Sheikh in 2004.

self-sufficient iran with its nuclear program
Iran now produces everything it needs for the nuclear fuel cycle, making its nuclear program self-sufficient, the head of the country's Atomic Energy Organization told state media Sunday.The step displays Iran's determination to master nuclear technology without outside help, including by enriching its own uranium, just a day before world powers meet Iranian officials in Geneva in another attempt to persuade them to freeze that work.
Yellowcake, an intermediate stage in processing uranium, is a uranium oxide concentrate which is then heated to remove impurities, the International Atomic Energy Agency says.
Iran had been importing it, Salehi said, but is now mining it and processing it within the country.
The United States and its allies fear that Iran is trying to produce a nuclear bomb. Iran denies it.Nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi said the uranium ore concentrate, known as yellowcake, was produced at the Gachin uranium mine in southern Iran and delivered to the uranium conversion facility in the central city of Isfahan for reprocessing.
He added that the message to those meeting with Iran in Geneva on Monday and Tuesday was that they cannot stop Iran's nuclear work.
Salehi's announcement came just a few days before Iran is to continue stalled nuclear talks with the so-called P5 plus 1 countries -- Germany and the permanent members of the U.N. Security Council: the United States, China, Russia, France and the United Kingdom.
The talks are set to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday and Tuesday, said a spokeswoman for Catherine Ashton, the European Union's foreign policy chief.
The spokeswoman said the goal of the talks is to end Iran's nuclear enrichment program.It has been more than a year since the Islamic state has had formal discussions with the P5 plus 1.
Iran has been under stiff sanctions over its continuation of uranium enrichment.
Two Iranian nuclear scientists were targeted by bombers on Monday, leaving one dead.
Iran blamed Israel, the United States and the United Kingdom's spy agencies for the attacks, which killed Majid Shahriari and injured Fereydoun Abbasi.But Salehi said Sunday that the "assassination of Iranian scientists will not hamper our progress."The United States and some of its allies accuse Iran of using its civil nuclear program as a cover to develop nuclear weapons. Iran has denied the accusation, saying its nuclear program is geared solely toward generating electricity and producing medical isotope to treat patients.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said Iran's uranium enrichment will not be discussed at the Geneva talks, though it is the central concern of the six world powers — the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany — that will be present.
Iran's intelligence minister accused the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency of sending spies in the guise of inspectors to collect information about Iran's nuclear activities, state TV reported Saturday.

President Obama met Tuesday with his top advisers
U.S. President Barack Obama met Tuesday with his top advisers about the situation on the Korean peninsula, in the wake of North Korea's artillery attack on a South Korean island. Obama is expected to telephone South Korean President Lee Myung-bak to reiterate U.S. support for South Korea.Immediately upon his return to the White House from a brief trip to the Midwestern state of Indiana, the president went into a meeting of his national security team.
According to a White House statement, National Security Advisor Tom Donilon, and Secretaries of State and Defense Hillary Clinton and Robert Gates were among those taking part.
U.S. envoy for North Korea Stephen Bosworth was in Beijing, consulting South Korean, Japanese and Chinese officials, and is expected to meet with the president. The key focus of Bosworth's talks in the region was Pyongyang's recent revelation of an apparent uranium enrichment plant.
Bosworth called the North Korean artillery attack that killed two South Korean marines and wounded 18 people, three of them civilians, "aggression."
The U.S. State Department on Tuesday called the attack an "unprovoked military assault," and said the Obama administration is planning a "measured and unified" response, working with China and other nations in the six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear program.

Tragedy of Cambodian water festival Celebration
More than 300 people died during the celebration of a water festival in the Cambodian capital. The town was celebrating the end of the rainy season and on the last day of the festival a crowd was pushed on a bridge. Panic spread among the Cambodians and many of them were stepped on while others fell into the water.
The image was horrific and described as a pyramid of human bodies by witnesses. This accident was described by Prime Minister as the most horrifying tragedy since the Communist reign in Cambodia.
Thousands of people stampeded during a festival in the Cambodian capital Monday, leaving at least 349 dead and hundreds of other people injured. A panic-stricken crowd of revellers marking the end of the rainy season on an island in a river tried to flee over a narrow bridge and many people were crushed underfoot or fell over its sides into the water.
Thousands of pairs of shoes scattered across the bridge, leaving barely a metre of empty space on the road — and as I walked through the blood-soaked pavement I realized this was a much bigger tragedy than I could have ever imagined.
Disoriented victims struggled to find an escape hatch through the human mass, pushing their way in every direction.
The capital's main medical facility is filled to capacity with patients, some of whom are being treated in hallways.
